At Tandem, Chris manages or contributes to a variety of projects within the Marketing Department, spanning print, digital, and video production. As someone living with diabetes, he is focused on creating content that addresses the real-life needs of people with diabetes, in both our educational and promotional materials.
What is your relationship to diabetes?I was diagnosed with type 1 in 2007, and I have an uncle who’s had type 1 for 25 years. My grandfather lived with type 2 for about 12 years.
What led you to work at Tandem?
I had been wearing the t:slim Pump for about a year before I started working at Tandem, and also created the GlucoLift glucose tablets that are in the t:slim Pump tins, so I already knew many of the people that I work with now, and knew I’d like being part of such an innovative company.
What do you like most about your job?
I like that I never have to look at myself in the mirror and ask why I do it. I know exactly what the value of our products are because they’re products I was already using to improve my own health and my own quality of life.
If you could change one thing, or implement something new at Tandem, what would it be?
I wish more of our customers had the opportunity to meet the people who work here- the people on the phones, the people developing new products and designing the diabetes management tools of the future, and all the other people who support our customers and our products. I know that my colleagues always love meeting the people whose lives are impacted by their work, and I think the people who rely on our products would be inspired by how committed Tandem employees are to our mission of relentless innovation and revolutionary customer experience.
What is something that you’d like the public to know about Tandem?
Unlike a lot of companies who offer diabetes products, Tandem’s focus is 100% on diabetes. It’s all we do. So many people here have personal connections to diabetes—many wear the pump themselves—and everyone understands the importance of what they’re doing.
What do you do when you aren’t at work?
I have two-year-old twins, so I do whatever they say. Or my best guess at what that might be.
