The Dexcom G7 sensor is designed for up to 10 days of wear and includes a 12‑hour grace period (total of 10.5 days). The 12-hour grace period provides users extra time and flexibility to change their continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor. During this time, the Dexcom G7 sensor and Control-IQ technology will continue to function normally.
When the sensor is paired with the t:slim X2 insulin pump, you will receive alerts from the pump as the sensor approaches its expiration. The Sensor Expiring Soon screen will appear on the pump to let the user know how much time is left (e.g., 24 hours, 2 hours). The user has the option to manually stop the sensor session before it expires or let the sensor automatically shut off.
Note: You will also get a notification on your t:connect mobile app if notifications are enabled in the mobile app. All pump notifications must be cleared on the t:slim X2 insulin pump.
If the grace period has ended and you haven't changed your sensor yet, you will receive an alert indicating that new CGM readings will not be available until you start a new sensor. Without CGM readings, Control IQ technology will not be able to automatically adjust insulin delivery.
Always refer to the user guide for important safety information and detailed step-by-step instructions on using Dexcom CGM with your t:slim X2 pump.
Important Note About CGM Support
Dexcom and Tandem have agreed which system issues are best handled by each company, including which company is responsible for reporting those events to the appropriate regulatory authority. To help ensure that the required reporting takes place in a timely fashion, customers may need to contact Dexcom for some issues and Tandem for others. Learn which continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) issues are specific to the sensor or the insulin pump, and which company to contact.
