The t:slim X2 insulin pump is indicated for use with NovoLog / NovoRapid (Novo Nordisk Insulin Aspart) or Humalog (Eli Lilly Insulin Lispro) U-100 insulins.
Admelog Insulin
It is important to note that Admelog is not approved by the FDA for use in the United States for Tandem Diabetes Care products. The safety or efficacy of this insulin has not been tested for use in our insulin pumps.
Off-Label Use
If your healthcare network or insurance company requires you to use Admelog and you experience persistent issues that can be attributed to insulin compatibility, please be aware that Tandem can’t guarantee the effective operation of your t:slim X2 insulin pump. We strongly recommend contacting your healthcare provider or insurance company to inform them that Admelog is considered off-label for your insulin pump and request permission to use Novolog or Humalog U- 100 insulin instead.
Compatibility Testing
Insulin compatibility testing can take a year or longer to complete. Tandem has not determined if or when we would undertake the process of updating our labeling to include Admelog.
Fast-Acting Insulins (e.g., Fiasp)
Tandem pumps and cartridges are only indicated for use with Novolog and Humalog U-100 insulins. The safety and efficacy of other insulins, including Fiasp, have not been tested for use in our insulin pumps. We do not have immediate plans to seek FDA approval for use of Fiasp in our insulin pumps.
More importantly, clinical studies using our automated insulin delivery system were only conducted using Novolog and Humalog U-100 insulins, which have different times of onset compared to Fiasp.
