Alerts display automatically on your t:slim X2 insulin pump to notify you about pump safety conditions that need your attention.
- Alerts notify you with either a sequence of notes or vibrations, depending on the settings selected in Sound Volume
- Alerts will repeat regularly every five minutes until they are cleared by tapping OK. This can cause the battery to deplete quickly.
Pay attention to alerts and address them as soon as possible. This article provides descriptions and best practices for common insulin delivery alerts:
Note: It is always recommended that you consult with your healthcare provider before making any adjustments to your pump settings.
Low Insulin Alerts
Your t:slim X2 insulin pump tracks the amount of insulin remaining in your pump cartridge and alerts you when it is low. When the insulin level drops below the programmed threshold (between 10 and 40 units), the Low Insulin Alert (0T) will appear on the screen. If the insulin level drops below 5 units, the Very Low Insulin Alert (17T) will trigger (non-adjustable).
How to Troubleshoot
- You will need to change your pump cartridge soon to avoid the Empty Cartridge Alarm and prevent running out of insulin
- Use proper cartridge load technique
- To program or change your Low Insulin Alert threshold, tap OPTIONS, My Pump, Alerts and Reminders, and then Low Insulin
Min Basal Alerts
There are two different types of Min Basal Alerts possible on your pump. One alert (8) will appear if you have entered a Basal Rate or requested a Temp Rate that is less than half of the lowest rate defined in your Personal Profile. The other alert (26T) will appear if the active Temp Rate dropped below half of the lowest rate defined in your Personal Profile.
How to Troubleshoot
- For Alert 8: Tap X to adjust the amount or tap the checkmark to continue
- For Alert 26T: Tap OK to close the alert screen and review your current Temp Rate in the Activity menu (tap OPTIONS)
Max Basal Alert
The t:slim X2 insulin pump lets you program a maximum limit to your Basal Rate (0.2 to 15 units per hour) that cannot be exceeded during a Temp Rate. If a Temp Rate is requested or is in progress and a time segment exceeds that limit, the Max Basal Alert (56T) will appear.
How to Troubleshoot
- Tap OK to accept the reduced rate (i.e., your programmed Basal Rate)
- To adjust the programmed setting, tap OPTIONS, My Pump, Personal Profiles, Pump Settings, and then Basal Limit
Max Bolus Alert
Your t:slim X2 insulin pump lets you program a maximum limit of insulin (1 to 25 units) for a single bolus. If you request a bolus larger than the programmed limit defined in your active Personal Profile, the Max Bolus Alert will appear.
How to Troubleshoot
- Tap X to return to the previous screen and adjust the amount
- To adjust the programmed setting, tap OPTIONS, My Pump, Personal Profiles, Pump Settings, and then Max Bolus
Max Hourly Bolus Alert
In the past 60 minutes, the total bolus amount requested for delivery is more than 1.5 times your programmed Max Bolus limit (1 to 25 units).
How to Troubleshoot
- Tap X to return to adjust the amount or tap the checkmark to continue
- To adjust the programmed setting, tap OPTIONS, My Pump, Personal Profiles, Pump Settings, and then Max Bolus
