After completing the Fill Tubing step of the cartridge load process, the t:slim X2 insulin pump will require at least 50 units of insulin in the cartridge to enable delivery. To ensure you have the desired amount of insulin available, consider adding around 45 extra units when filling your cartridge.
A small amount of insulin will remain in the cartridge that cannot get squeezed out, much like a tube of toothpaste. Additionally, some insulin stays in the infusion set tubing, depending on its length. Never fill your t:slim X2 cartridge with more than 300 units.
Once the tubing is filled, tap Done, and then the pump will estimate the insulin level in the cartridge. If fewer than 50 units are detected, a Minimum Fill notification will appear. To resolve this notification, follow the steps below:
- Tap Fill on the notification screen
- Inject additional units of insulin to the existing cartridge as needed. The total amount of insulin in the cartridge should not exceed 300 units.
- Tap Change Cartridge and then follow the on-screen instructions. This will allow the pump to detect the additional units of insulin in the cartridge.
- Ensure that the infusion set is disconnected from the site location on your body and then tap Start to fill your tubing again. A minimum of 10 units are required before you can stop.
- If you see drops at the end of your tubing, tap Done
- If the Minimum Fill notification occurs again, you will need to load a new cartridge onto the pump. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
- Continue with any other steps in the load process (e.g., Fill Cannula)
