Wearing an Insulin Pump During a Medical Procedure

When preparing for a medical procedure, understanding the safety guidelines for wearing an insulin pump is crucial.

Tandem Diabetes Care insulin pumps are designed to withstand common electromagnetic interference but should be removed before a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) scan, or diathermy treatment, as exposure can damage the pump's components.

Make sure to disconnect at the infusion site on your body, not at the tubing connection (t:lock connector). Disconnecting at the t:lock connector could introduce air into the tubing, potentially compromising insulin delivery.
