We've created a series of short instructional videos to highlight some of the features of the t:slim X2™ insulin pump. Check out the first videos in this series below!
How Control-IQ Technology Works on the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump
This video explains how Control-IQ advanced hybrid closed-loop technology is designed to help increase time in range (70-180 mg/dL)* using Dexcom G6 CGM values to predict glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and adjust insulin delivery accordingly; including delivery of automatic correction boluses† as needed.
How to Change Time on Your t:slim X2 Insulin Pump
For when it comes time to change your clocks, we've created a video that shows you how to change the time on your t:slim X2 insulin pump.
Please note: Since there are multiple versions of software used on our pumps, the screens featured in this video may be slightly different than the ones on your pump.
How to Turn On Control-IQ Technology on the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump
This video shows you how to activate Control-IQ technology in your t:slim X2 pump, how to turn it off, how to enter your weight and total daily insulin, and what you’ll see when Control-IQ technology is active.
How to Use the Sleep Activity on the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump with Control-IQ Technology
The Control-IQ™ technology Sleep Activity is designed to help you target a narrower sensor glucose treatment range with your t:slim X2™ insulin pump while sleeping. With the Sleep Activity turned on, Control-IQ will gradually intensify control overnight by tightening the treatment range to 112.5-120 mg/dL. This video shows you how to activate and deactivate the Sleep Activity manually, and how to set up two sleep schedules based on day of week, time, and other preferences.
How to Use the Exercise Activity Feature on the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump with Control-IQ Technology
The Control-IQ™ technology’s Exercise Activity is a feature created to help guard against low blood sugar during periods of physical activity. When Exercise is turned on, Control-IQ will decrease insulin when glucose is predicted to be below 140 mg/dL and will stop basal insulin delivery when glucose is predicted to be below 80 mg/dL. In this video, you’ll learn how to turn the Exercise Activity on, turn it off, and what you’ll see when the feature is being used.
Extending a Bolus
Here are the steps for programming an extended bolus.
Unique Bolus Calculator
The bolus calculator has another calculator built in, so you can add up multiple carb values to help calculate your total bolus amount.
Entering a Dexcom G6 CGM Transmitter ID
Here are the steps for entering a Dexcom G6 CGM Transmitter ID.
Home Screen Shortcut
The "T" on the front of Tandem pumps is actually a shortcut to the home screen! It takes you straight back home, eliminating any additional taps before your desired next step.
Manually Resuming Insulin
Here are the steps for manually resuming insulin delivery.
Setting a Temporary Basal Rate
Here are the steps for setting a Temporary Basal Rate.
Quick Bolus Button
This button can be programmed to enter either units of insulin or grams of carbohydrate without you looking at the screen, or even taking your pump out of your pocket!
Unintended Touch Protection
In order to guard against unintended inputs, the pump automatically turns off if it detects 3 taps on inactive areas of the touchscreen. This does not impact insulin delivery.

*As measured by CGM
† If glucose values are predicted to be above 180 mg/dL, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 110 mg/dL and delivers 60% of that value. It will do this up to once per hour as needed.
Important Safety Information:
Caution: Federal (USA) law restricts the t:slim X2 insulin pump, the t:slim X2 pump with Basal-IQ technology, and Control-IQ technology to sale by or on the order of a physician. The t:slim X2 pump, the t:slim X2 pump with Basal-IQ technology, and Control-IQ technology are intended for single patient use. The t:slim X2 pump, the t:slim X2 pump with Basal-IQ technology, and Control-IQ technology are indicated for use with NovoLog or Humalog U-100 insulin.
t:slim X2 insulin pump: The t:slim X2 insulin pump with interoperable technology is an alternate controller enabled (ACE) pump that is intended for the subcutaneous delivery of insulin, at set and variable rates, for the management of diabetes mellitus in people requiring insulin. The pump is able to reliably and securely communicate with compatible, digitally connected devices, including automated insulin dosing software, to receive, execute, and confirm commands from these devices. The pump is indicated for use in individuals 6 years of age and greater. t:slim X2 insulin pump with Basal-IQ technology: When used with a compatible integrated continuous glucose monitor (iCGM), the t:slim X2 insulin pump with Basal-IQ technology can be used to suspend insulin delivery based on CGM sensor readings. The t:slim X2 pump with Basal-IQ technology is indicated for use in individuals 6 years of age and greater. Control-IQ technology: Control-IQ technology is intended for use with a compatible integrated continuous glucose monitor (iCGM, sold separately) and ACE pump to automatically increase, decrease, and suspend delivery of basal insulin based on iCGM readings and predicted glucose values. It can also deliver correction boluses when the glucose value is predicted to exceed a predefined threshold. Control-IQ technology is intended for the management of Type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons 14 years of age and greater.
WARNING: Control-IQ technology should not be used by anyone under the age of six years old. It should also not be used in patients who require less than 10 units of insulin per day or who weigh less than 55 pounds.
Control-IQ technology and the t:slim X2 pump with Basal-IQ technology are not indicated for use in pregnant women, people on dialysis, or critically ill patients. Users of the t:slim X2 pump, the t:slim X2 pump with Basal-IQ technology, and Control-IQ technology must: be able and willing to use the insulin pump, CGM, and all other system components in accordance with their respective instructions for use; test blood glucose levels as recommended by their healthcare provider; demonstrate adequate carb-counting skills; maintain sufficient diabetes self-care skills; see healthcare provider(s) regularly; and have adequate vision and/or hearing to recognize all functions of the pump, including alerts, alarms, and reminders. The t:slim X2 pump, transmitter, and sensor must be removed before MRI, CT, or diathermy treatment. For additional important safety information, visit tandemdiabetes.com/safetyinfo.
